We are proud to announce our support for the hospitality industry’s campaign calling for a reduction in VAT for hospitality businesses from 20% to 10%.
Hospitality businesses across the UK continue to operate in an increasingly challenging environment, with rising costs affecting operators of all sizes. While a reduction in VAT would not address every challenge facing the sector, it would represent a positive step towards supporting investment, jobs and the long-term sustainability of hospitality businesses.
The campaign has united businesses and organisations from across the industry, including trade bodies the British Beer and Pub Association, the British Institute of Innkeeping and UK Hospitality, highlighting the importance of hospitality to local communities, employment and the wider economy.
We have signed the petition and are pleased to lend our support to an initiative that seeks to strengthen the future of our sector.
Peter Wells, Chief Executive Officer, said:
“Hospitality businesses continue to face significant pressures, with rising employment costs, energy prices and inflation affecting operators across the sector. While a reduction in VAT is unlikely to solve every challenge facing hospitality, it would represent a meaningful step towards supporting investment, protecting jobs and helping businesses continue to serve their communities.
“We are pleased to support this campaign and are actively encouraging our teams and partners to sign the petition. It is particularly encouraging to see businesses from across hospitality coming together behind a shared cause and speaking with one voice about the importance of our industry to the UK economy and local communities and we will continue to do all we can to add our support to those conversations.”
