The Two Brewers in Northaw has officially opened its doors, unveiling a new, elevated pub experience under the leadership of award-winning publican Tom Arnold and highly acclaimed Head Chef, Paul Cooke.
Tom brings with him a wealth of experience as the driving force behind the hugely successful Burleigh Arms in Cambridge, which earned a spot in the Estrella Damm Top 100 Gastropubs in the UK within its very first year. Alongside this national recognition is a host of regional accreditations and acknowledgements, cementing the Burleigh Arm’s reputation as one of the pub and dining destinations in Cambridgeshire.
He is now bringing that same passion, energy and experience to The Two Brewers, with the goal of creating a high-end yet welcoming spot for locals to enjoy. The move comes as part of a shared vision with Wells & Co., the Bedfordshire-based pub company and owner of both The Two Brewers and the Burleigh Arms, to raise the bar in British pub dining and hospitality.
Joining Tom at the helm is Head Chef Paul Cooke, whose impressive culinary pedigree includes roles at several high-end pubs and Michelin-starred kitchens across the UK, including The Hand and Flowers in Marlow, The Plough in Sleapshyde and Thompson in St Albans. Together, the duo is on a mission to deliver not just quality food, but a truly elevated experience for the Northaw community.
Speaking about the new venture, Tom said:
“The Two Brewers is a beautiful pub with so much potential. Our aim is to create a space that locals can be genuinely proud of — somewhere you can pop in for a pint, but also bring friends and family for an exceptional meal. We’re here to create something truly long-lasting and for us, our focus is about getting the details right and delivering a quality experience to every guest, every single time. We are hugely excited to bring something new to the local community.”
Guests can expect an array of dining options, with a brand-new a la carte menu. Main menu options include Halibut in a chicken butter sauce served with potato terrine, sweetcorn, leek and BBQ mushrooms, Dingley Dell Pork accompanied with Maitake, Black Garlic and Apple and a steak option for two, served with triple cooked chips and Caesar salad.
A full-scale refurbishment is scheduled for summer 2026, designed to reflect the premium-yet-accessible ethos that Tom and Paul are bringing to the venue.
